Digital Ministry: Digital Strategies to Engage the Next Generation

Enroll for free to view the video that was held on April 22, 2021

The new normal of the pandemic has accelerated the church’s move to digital spaces. Any church looking to connect with its members and neighbors during this pandemic has had to increase its focus on developing an online presence. Our panel of specialists would like to help you build on what you have created, share how to best leverage each online platform, and hone your message to engage the next generation.

Your church’s online presence is often the first interaction that young families will have with your church. They would have looked at your website, social media, and recorded sermons before coming through your church’s front door. Come and learn to maximize your online process to authentically connect with the next generation in your community.

This workshop is for pastors, church staff, consistory members, elders, and deacons who want their congregations to succeed in mission. To build on the learnings of this webinar we are offering a Digital Communications Strategies Course this coming August. This will be a four-week course where we take a deeper dive into your online presence to authentically connect with your community.

Workshop Leaders

Christine Anderson

Christine grew up as the daughter of a worship pastor in Portland, Oregon. She felt the call to full-time ministry early on, so after high school, she left Oregon to complete a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and English at the University of New Mexico. While in New Mexico, Christine worked in multiple roles that included graphic design, copyediting, web design, and marketing. After graduation, she moved to Michigan, where she now works full-time at a network of RCA churches in the Detroit metro area as both the communications director and student ministry director.

Sung Kim

Sung currently serves as the Leadership Development Coordinator for the RCA. He loves to disrupt the status quo, but not so much that this former New Yorker won’t cheer for the Big Ten home team in Ann Arbor where he is also pastor of a growing church. In addition to sporting maize and blue, Sung is an avid consumer of artisan coffee and craft beer—two things Ann Arbor has plenty of! He is highly visionary, thoroughly pragmatic, and always curious about what makes people tick and what makes organizations great.

Nate Kimball

Nate currently serves as the Executive Pastor of Grace Church – a church with multiple locations in the Ann Arbor area. Prior to moving into ministry roles, he worked as a stockbroker, marketer, currency trader, and owned a home remodeling business. Every evening he drives home to his family farm outside Ann Arbor, where three generations of his family work, play, and work some more. Whether working at Grace or working on the farm, Nate spends most of his time making sure everyone around him has the tools and knowledge they need to get their jobs done as efficiently and joyfully as possible. He’s the husband of one, father of four, and a source of inspiration to his 11 Instagram followers.

Annalise Radcliffe

Rev. Annalise Radcliffe serves as a bivocational pastor. City Chapel is a small faith community of primarily millennials and Gen Z. In addition, she works as the coordinator of Next Generation Engagement for the Reformed Church in America. Previously she served as the coordinator for Social and Digital Media for the denomination. She is passionate about leadership development, intergenerational relationships, and forming holistic community.

Grace Ruiter

Grace co-created and manages Faithward.org, an RCA-led digital ministry focused on equipping people to follow Christ in the 21st century. Since it began as a small blog two years ago, Faithward has grown exponentially and now reaches more than 50,000 people each month. As digital content coordinator for the RCA, Grace has also grown the RCA’s digital presence through email newsletters, social media, and a redesigned website. She loves writing, baking bread (ask her about sourdough at your own risk), and karaoke.
